The Australian band 5 Seconds Of Summer are making their way with YouTube views (over 50 million) and Facebook likes. Luke Hemmings (vocals, guitar), Michael Clifford (guitar) and Calum Hood (bass) attended the same Christian college near Sydney when they started uploading covers to YouTube. Their cover of Chris Brown's “Next to You” was viewed by over half a million users. Noticed by Sony ATV, they signed a publishing contract. With Ashton Irwin on drums, they released a self-produced digital EP (UNPLUGGED) and then devoted themselves to writing new songs alongside established songwriters, from Nick Hodgson of the Kaiser Chiefs to Jake Gosling.
