    Discovering a Millennial Tradition

    Discover the evocative Valtellinese landscape in which the terraced vineyards are set which first tells the millennial history of wine: the dry stone walls that run at the foot of the Alps, where skilled and passionate winemakers cultivate the Nebbiolo grapes, locally called Chiavennasca, from which they are born full-bodied reds with great personality. The red wines of Valtellina are obtained from a late ripening vine that has been able to create a perfect union with this land over the centuries, giving birth to unique wines. The Designation of Origin of Valtellina boasts 2 DOCGs (Sforzato di Valtellina and Valtellina Superiore) 1 DOC (Rosso di Valtellina) and 1 IGT (Terrazze Retiche di Sondrio), the vineyards extend for about 800 hectares with 2,042 winemakers.

    We will take you to visit the Casa Vinicola Pietro Nera, one of the most important and prestigious winery in Valtellina, with a long tradition in the enhancement and promotion of the territory, in the cultivation of vineyards and in the production of high quality wines with unique characteristics, which certificates of merit have been awarded in the various national and international competitions.

    It takes place every Saturday and Sunday afternoon with tasting of 5 wines and tasting of a platter of cold cuts and cheeses. The wines that will be offered for tasting are:
    • IGT Alpi Retiche (Nebbiolo or Cabernet Sauvignon) 
    • Valtellina Superiore Docg Tradizionale 
    • Valtellina Superiore Docg Riserva 
    • Sforzato di Valtellina Docg Pietro Nera 
    • Sforzato di Valtellina Docg Azienda Agricola Caven 
     
    Schedule: 
    • 2:30pm bus departure from Sondrio station
    • 2:45pm arrival in the Nera winery
    • 3:00pm start of visit and tasting
    • 4:45pm end of visit and tasting
    • 5:00pm bus departure 
    • 5:15pm arrival at the Sondrio station
