Iron Maiden are considered among the pioneers and major representatives of the so-called new wave of English heavy metal. Born in London in 1975 on the initiative of bassist Steve Harris, they came out with the first official demo The Soundhouse Tapes only four years later. The actual debut, however, arrives in 1980 with the eponymous Iron Maiden: it contains the famous tracks Running Free and Sanctuary, but above all climbs the English charts leading them to an overwhelming success. They cross the 80s and 90s as great protagonists and enter the new millennium as great metal priests, filling the stadiums of half the world with avid fans.
